BEA @ Kifu Bonsai

Bruce Arnold - Pottery & Bonsai Artist

This lifelong Pottstownian explored acting, music, painting and forging, always having a creative calling. He decided to try his hand at extreme sports, including rock climbing, hang gliding and downhill longboarding, during the tender young years of his 30's and 40's.

It wasn't until he took a basic bonsai class at Kifu Bonsai in 2017 that he found his real passion. Shortly after, he began his apprentiship under Robert "Bob" Mahler. In the last 7 years, Bruce has fully immersed himself in the world of bonsai, most recently taking a trip to Japan with his colleagues and later helping to setup the precious works from member's of the Pennsylvania Bonsai Society at the The Philadelphia Flower Show.

Bruce then married his passion for and knowledge of bonsai with another creative calling. After taking pottery classes at Carl J Bean Pottery, Bruce became motivated to acquire his own kiln which he keeps at the bonsai studio. He now blends these two forms of art by working with and caring for the bonsai and creating unique pots for those bonsai to live in.

Bruce will be joining us at the The Collective by sharing some of the "heartier" (i.e. just add water) indoor tropical varieties of bonsai, all planted in his lovingly crafted pots. In addition, Bruce will be givng bonsai and pottery creative classes.

Bruce is a great artist, teacher, Mochi the dog lover and goth dancer! Come get to know him and his artistry at The Collective!
