Cheryl Hart
Cheryl is a Pottstown artist that predominantly paints in oils, although her large pieces are typically acrylics. She has participated in many local plein air events over the past decade which consisted of painting on location in competitions and paint-outs with fellow artists in some of the most beautiful locations in the region. She enjoys painting architecture, people, landscapes, and animals and loves the challenge of capturing the unique characteristics of each. The way the light affects the subjects and causes the colors to dance in her painting is what she finds most delightful about painting. Some of her favorite influences have been impressionists, post-impressionists, and fauvists with their bold exaggerated colors.
Cheryl attended Bucks County Community College, which is where she discovered her love of painting, then graduated from Kutztown University with an associate’s degree in communication design. She worked for Binney and Smith in Easton, then at Hunter Advertising Agency in Exton before devoting her time to family and raising 3 wonderful children. Up until 2023, she spend 19 years teaching art part-time at Valley Forge Baptist Academy. During that time, she also worked on her own art, often inspired by and influenced by the school students she taught.
Through the years Cheryl has had the privilege of participating in solo and group art shows, where she has won awards, and illustrated 3 book covers written by Pottstown author Laura Bratcher Goins. Today, through painting, Cheryl enjoys documenting this moment in history by painting the local scenery whether it be in town or out in the countryside.
